On names

"Kieran" (kee-rin) is an Irish name meaning "dark prince" or "dark-haired one." The second one certainly seems to fit. Little Kieran has a few drops of Irish blood in him going back to his great-great grandmother Jessie Flanagan. "Kiran" (kih-run) is an Indian name meaning "ray of light." We pronounce his name kind of like both of those: kee-run.

"Chiranjiv" (chee-run-jeev) is a Marathi word meaning immortal or long-lived one. It can also be used as a given name, apparently. The name of this site is a play on "Kieran" and "Chiranjiv." I guess he's an "immortal dark-haired royal ray of light." That's a lot to live up to. It's probably not fair to judge him based on just 10 hours. Give him time.

Of course, Uma is still going to call him "yitta guy geezus" (Little Guy Jesus). I tell you, you explain one Christmas Nativity scene to a 2-year old...
